Tyler has come a long way since those early days in NICU. He runs all over the house and keeps us on our toes constantly. He is full of smiles and surprises and he never fails to amaze us with how quickly he learns new things. We have so many people to thank for Tyler's success since his discharge from NICU. Our friends and family are right up at the top! We are so lucky to have such an amazing support system. We'd also like to thank:
Kids R Kids - Waterford Lakes: Tyler has been a "student" here since he was 6 months old and he has made such huge strides since he started. The teachers and staff there are wonderful! As a new mom, especially to a preemie, I was so worried about his development and where he would fit in with the other children of various ages. The first day, I cried all the way there. As soon as we walked in, the teachers held him and cooed over him...they made me feel much better and I knew he was being taken good care of. I've been happy there ever since. He gets lots of love and attention and he really seems to enjoy being there - he smiles when we walk in, waves goodbye to his new friends and teachers when we leave. I really think that Tyler has benefited from being there - the attention he gets from the staff and being around other children his age has allowed him to catch up so quickly! http://members.webs.com/MembersB/EditPage/www.kidsrkidswaterford.net
TLC Pediatrics - Orlando: We love our pediatrician! Dr. Tom Lacy was referred to us through a co-worker. We met with him while Tyler was still in NICU, after hearing that he has experience with caring for premature babies. Right from the start, we felt comfortable with him. I can still remember telling him Tyler's situation - what he had gone through, the bullets we had dodged in regard to Tyler's clean brain scan, his healthy heart, etc. and I remember him saying, "he's going to do fine." And he was right. Their care philosophy mentions "caring for your children as if they were my very own" - it is such a true statement. There has never been a time that we haven't been able to get a same-day appointment when we need one, never been a time when we didn't get a call back if we needed one. He has been watching Tyler's progress from the week he was discharged from NICU - he has seen him through a heart rate monitor and countless ear infections, watched him grow from a tiny baby to a still growing toddler. We trust his opinion and his advice completely and I would recommend him to any of my friends. It always makes me feel so good to hear him comment on how well Tyler is doing. I hope he recognizes his own contribution to Tyler's progress!
